I can bring another photographer, who will cover from pre-ceremony prep until the end of the first dance. Together we will be able to capture more moments and guests throughout the day. I recommend this especially if you have more than 150 attendees.

An 8 by 8 inch fine art album, featuring 60-80 of your favourite photos, bound with leather and printed on 200gsm paper with Folio. Prices for larger album sizes are available upon request.

Engagement Shoot

£100*

No pressure or forced poses. My approach is to spend a little time with you, somewhere you feel comfortable – through a neighbourhood you like, a local park, your favourite cafe or even in your own home. An hour together with at least 30 retouched photos to treasure. It's an opportunity to see what it feels like before the big day if you're camera-shy.  Examples here.

* £100 if you book me for your wedding. Regular price £300.

FAQs

I'M REALLY AWKWARD IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA. HELP!

Ironically, so am I. Don’t worry – the best shots happen when you don’t notice I'm there. I’ll give a little bit of relaxed direction during the couple shots and family shots, but most of the time I’ll stay discreetly out of the way of you and your guests.

HOW MUCH PHOTOSHOPPING DO YOU DO?

I use Photoshop to enhance light levels, correct colours and – if necessary – remove distracting objects. But my goal is to keep it natural. You'll end up with photos much like the ones you see on this website.

HOW MANY PHOTOGRAPHERS WILL there be?

I usually work alone to remain as unobtrusive as possible, but I can bring an additional photographer. You would benefit from extra coverage: for example, one can be doing family photos while the other catches guests candidly having fun. Two photographers will naturally be able to catch more candid moments throughout the day. I recommend it if you have 150+ guests.

DO YOU SHOOT WEDDING VIDEOS?

No, but I can recommend some great videographers who I've worked with in the past. Let me know in advance if you are booking a videographer, as this will affect the way I work on the day so I can plan accordingly.

WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH GROUP SHOTS?

As invisible as I'd like to be, the only time I'll direct your guests is for 10 minutes for the family and group shots. In my experience, this goes far more smoothly if you nominate a helper – like a sibling or usher with a good pair of lungs – to gather people. Try to limit the combinations to 10 groups, as you're there to spend time with your loved ones, not pose for ages! I'll scope out suitable locations, but have an indoor/covered option in mind in case of rain.

HOW MANY PHOTOS SHOULD I EXPECT?

This varies depending on how long the wedding is, number of guests, activities throughout the day, etc. I usually deliver between 350 and 450 retouched photos for each wedding, or even more if there's two photographers.

Can I have all the unedited photos?

Short answer: no. I'll never cap the number of photos you get. During a wedding, I can take 2000+ photos but many of these will be near-duplicates (sometimes capturing 6 frames per sec). Some will be duds as I adjust camera settings for each new perspective; others are rejected for blinking/blurry people or unattractive angles. Besides, I shoot in RAW mode and each file is 30MB so the transfer would be a nightmare! If you like my style, please trust my process.

WHAT ABOUT COPYRIGHTS?

I keep the commercial copyrights, but you’ll receive unlimited rights to share and print. This basically means you can do anything you like with them, as long as it’s not for profit. I will deliver your photos to you before using them on my blog, and will always obtain your permission before submitting them to any external website or publication.

WHAT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG?

I have public liability insurance (some venues may ask for proof of this).Wild dogs and hurricanes couldn't keep me from your wedding but, if I can’t make it for any catastrophic reason, I am part of a great community of professional photographers who call on each other in times of emergency. Contingency plans are always in place!

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

I shoot with two full-frame cameras, Canon 5D MK II & III; a range of prime lenses – 35mm f1.4, 50mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.2; and flash equipment (mainly for the dance floor). I carry back-up gear to each wedding so if anything should happen, I will be prepared.

SHOULD I FEED YOU ON THE DAY?

Yes please! I'm on my feet and alert all day, and probably won't have eaten since early morning, so will be starving by the wedding meal. Since people generally don't want to be photographed stuffing their faces, I take a break here and resume when your guests finish eating. A supplier meal is fine, if your caterer does them.

DO YOU PRINT WEDDING ALBUMS?

I design and print hand-crafted fine art wedding albums with Folio, renowned for their high quality and eco-friendly process. Prices start at £400 for a 20-page 8 by 8 inch album printed on 220gsm cotton paper.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH ELOPEMENTS?

I certainly do. Give me the details, and I'll provide a bespoke quote.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH DESTINATION WEDDINGS?

Yes I most certainly do. See an example of one in the south west of France here. Let's discuss the details for a bespoke quote.

WILL WE GET FEATURED IN A WEDDING BLOG?

You may have used blogs for inspiration in planning your own big day. I get a lot of bookings from couples who've seen my photos on these blogs – like this or this one – so, with your permission, I'd absolutely love to submit your photos for features. It really helps out my business.

HOW DO I BOOK YOU?

Once I receive a signed digital contract and a deposit of 40% then I am yours. I ask for the balance at least 4 weeks before your wedding day.

DO YOU DO ENGAGEMENT SHOOTS?

Yes! My style for engagement shoots is definitely not too posed (see here). We would spend an hour together somewhere special to you to get approximately 30 photos. Some couples like to incorporate these into their weddings, e.g. on the invitations or in the guestbook. Others just want to have a go at being in front of my camera before the big day, so you'll be completely relaxed knowing how I work.

I STILL HAVE MORE QUESTIONS...

Ask away. In my years of experience, I've seen a lot of weddings styles and situations, so am happy to give advice based on what I've learned. Drop me an email here.
